Celebrate National Day of Racial Healing on January 16, 2024
This annual observance is hosted by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (WKKF) and was created with and builds on the work and learnings of the Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (TRHT) community partners. Fundamental to this day is a clear understanding that racial healing is at the core of racial equity. The National Day of Racial Healing is observed every year on the Tuesday following Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

The State Revenue Alliance and Grassroots Solutions released a case study on how and why the Fair Share Massachusetts campaign was won. IRS 2024 Direct File Pilot
The IRS will pilot launch Direct File in 2024, the first free, public federal tax e-filing tool in U.S. history. The pilot will allow taxpayers to e-file directly with the IRS at no cost. If successful this pilot could benefit over 20 million people and nearly half of all low-income taxpayers. The Tax Equity Funders Network is supporting this effort and working with partners to ensure its success. Learn more here.
The Families and Workers Fund has launched the Powering Climate and Infrastructure Careers for All. Through $50 million in grants, strategic partnerships, and technical assistance to nonprofits, state and local governments, training and education providers, and private sector employer groups, the new initiative will deploy philanthropic capital to help tackle the serious workforce implementation challenges facing the United States on its path toward a net-zero economy and 21st-century infrastructure.
Policies for Action Call for Proposals
Policies for Action, a signature research program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, has issued a call for proposals focused on research about policies that can contribute to the full social, economic, and civic inclusion of immigrant families in American society. Approximately $1.5 million in funding is available for this opportunity. The submission deadline is February 16, 2024. Full proposals (if invited) must be submitted by July 23, 2024. An informational webinar will be held on December 15, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. (ET).
Partners for Places Applications Now Open
The Funders Network, in partnership with the Urban Sustainability Directors Network, is pleased to announce the opening of the latest round of the Partners for Places grant program. The deadline to submit proposals is Feb. 27. The Partners for Places matching grant program improves communities by supporting equitable sustainability projects that build partnerships between local government leaders, frontline community groups, and place-based funders in the U.S. and Canada.
Galvanizing Philanthropic Support for 2024 Older Americans Act Reauthorization
Grantmakers In Aging and Grantmakers In Health have partnered to support the 2024 reauthorization of the Older Americans Act (OAA). This is a critical opportunity for funders to address common priority issues affecting all of us as we age, including mental health and well-being, social connection, and the care workforce. This 18-month initiative will include a political landscape analysis, multiple convenings and communications, and an advocacy-focused resource for distribution to funders, partner organizations, and grantees.
