EOF Names Make the Road New Jersey as 2024 Law & Social Policy Legacy Award Winner!
Established in 2020, the Law & Social Policy Legacy Award recognizes organizations defending and advocating for low-wage workers’ rights and aims to increase knowledge of this work in the philanthropic community.
Make the Road New Jersey (MRNJ) was selected based on its strong record of advancing systemic change for immigrants and low-wage workers in New Jersey through community organizing, the provision of legal and support services, policy innovation, and transformative education. MRNJ builds the power of immigrant and working-class communities to achieve dignity and respect. Founded in 2014, the membership-based organization has won more than 18 campaigns that have helped more than one million New Jerseyans out of poverty. Learn more about MRNJ and all the 2024 Nominees.

EOF hosts an Annual Budget and Tax Briefing to provide funders and philanthropic advisors with a unique opportunity to learn about and discuss why federal and state budget and tax work matters to national, state, and local philanthropy.

New Vanguard Investment in Public Options
Economic Security Project (ESP) has announced the Public Options for America Fund, a vanguard investment in the most promising and innovative public option models and leaders of today. Collaborators include ten grantees and three partners across housing, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, childcare, energy, and AI, all of whom are advancing the field in new and innovative ways. To build a diverse ecosystem and break down silos across these sector areas, ESP is also establishing the Public Options Community of Practice to bring practitioners, activists, strategists, campaigners, and researchers together.

All by April is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) philanthropic campaign working to ensure that U.S. elections are free, fair, and representative. Spearheaded by the Democracy Fund, this nonpartisan campaign is asking funders and donors to:
Make all or most of your grant commitments by the end of April.
Make grant or donation payments by the end of April.
Move up disbursements of multiyear grants that had been scheduled for later in the year.
Streamline processes, especially for renewal grants.
Provide general support grants, which are helpful to grantees and often faster to process.
Trust your grantees and lean on trusted peers’ diligence.

In 2024, Philanthropy for Active Civic Engagement (PACE) is exploring how funders can invest in American democracy in ways that ensure it is larger than politics. They will be hosting a salon series and a post-election debrief in December. You can learn more and express interest here.

Since 1980, the Council on Foundation's Grantmaker Salary and Benefits (GSB) Survey has provided the sector with the most comprehensive data on staff composition and compensation in the United States. Survey participants receive a complimentary copy of the full report, as well as access to the Council's dynamic online benchmarking tool.
Nominations Now Open for 2024 Equity in Philanthropy Fellowship
Rockwood Leadership Institute, in partnership with Wellspring Philanthropic Fund, has launched the nomination process for the 2024 Equity in Philanthropy Fellowship. This Fellowship connects a robust and intersectional group of philanthropic leaders and catalyzes a shift in philanthropy in which diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the center of all decision-making levels. Nominations are due by 8 pm EST on April 12, 2024.

The California Endowment Is 'Going All In'
The California Endowment recently announced a commitment to align all $4 billion in investment assets with their mission and values. “…we are using our mandate and power as an institutional investor to stand with the communities we serve, and to contribute to a more inclusive brand of capitalism,” said the Endowment in a statement.
